But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to show us His glory.

But God has chosen the foolish things
of the world to show us His glory.

The picture above is Calvary Chapel Abidjan-Cocody on a Sunday morning. We are constantly amazed as we watch God move tremendous obstacles to show us His great love. We know that we are the “foolish things” He has chosen to do His work. It is a great honor to serve the beautiful people God has gathered together here in Africa. God is building His Church.

( 1 Corinthians 1:26-31) For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”

Two Churches, One Bible Training Center and the University Bible Study!
Calvary Chapel Abidjan-Cocody is now two years old. The church is doing very well. Between 70 and 80 persons attend the services. We have also started a second church, Calvary Chapel Yopougon, which meets at the Bible Training Center. There is much excitement in Yopougon about these new works of God. Chris also teaches weekly at the University of Cocody. 30 to 50 students come to study the Bible and learn English during this 2 hour class. Pray that God will bless many through the teaching of His Word.

Teaching people to read and write!
After leading someone to Christ, it is important to help them become established in the faith through the study of God’s Word. Many people here in Africa do not know how to read and write. Gospel for Africa provides free French language instruction at Calvary Chapel Abidjan-Cocody. It is a blessing to see someone begin to read the Bible in their own language.

Saving Lives Through Medical Outreach!
Malaria is the number one killer here in Sub Saharan Africa. Many people die needlessly because they can’t afford simple treatment. Gospel For Africa provides needy families with Doctor-prescribed medicines for treatment of malaria. Treatment for one person costs $20.

Providing French Bi
bles For The Needy!
God’s Word is preci
ous, and for Africans who live on less than 2 dollars per day, it is very expensive to buy. Thanks to your prayers and support we are able to provide French Bibles to those who may have never owned a Bible. One Bible costs $2. One case of 40 Bibles costs $80.

School Tuition Assistance For The Poor!
Sending a child to school for one year in West Africa costs as little as $40 US. As the Lord provides funding we meet with the family and determine if they are truly needy. We then meet with school officials and provide the school with funding for the child. For less than .15 cents per day for one year, a child can have an education and new hope for a better life.
