Muslims Allah and Isa, Christians God and Jesus!
Defining the words Isa and Allah: In this text we use the words Isa, Jesus, Allah and God. Isa is the Arabic word for Jesus. Allah is the Arabic word for God.
Question: What is a true Christian?
Answer: True Christians beleive that the Holy Bible is the Word of Isa/Jesus. Christians are followers of Isa/Jesus.
Question: What does the Qur’an say about Isa/Jesus? Is Isa/Jesus to be trusted?
Answer: Since the Qur’an commended Isa, faithful Muslims should study Isa’s teachings in the Bible and Qur’an (Surah 3:48-49; 5:46).
- Allah/God sent Isa/Jesus, supporting Him with the Holy Spirit (Surah 2:87)
- Allah/God exalted Isa/Jesus (Surah 2:253)
- Isa/Jesus was righteous and sinless (Surah 3:46; 6:85; 19:19)
- Isa/Jesus was raised from the dead (Surah 19:33-34)
- Allah/God commanded Isa to establish a religion (Surah 42:13)
- Isa/Jesus ascended into heaven (Surah 4:157-158)
Question: Is the Bible is Isa’s/Jesus’ Word?
Answer: Isa’s teachings were recorded by His disciples in the Injeel (Gospel). Surah 5:111 states that the disciples were inspired by Allah/God to believe in Isa/Jesus and His message. As Allah’s helpers (Surah 61:6, 14), Isa’s disciples would have accurately recorded His teaching.
Question: Isn’t the Bible for Christians only?
Answer: The Qur’an instructs Muslims to uphold and obey both the Torah and the Gospels (Surah 5:44-48). Muhammad would not have given that instruction if the Gospels had been corrupted. Therefore, the copies of the Gospels in Muhammad’s time were trustworthy and accurate. There are copies of the Gospels that precede Muhammad’s time by 450 years. When comparing the most ancient copies, the copies from Muhammad’s time, and the copies dated after Muhammad’s time, all the copies of the Gospels are consistent in their testimony of Jesus and His teaching. No evidence can prove that the Gospels have been corrupted. Therefore, all of Jesus’ teachings are preserved accurately in the Bible.
Question: Did Jesus really live, die and come back to life?
Answer: If you beleive the Gospels are true, what do they teach about Jesus? The Gospels record that Jesus foretold His life’s work: He said He would be crucified, killed, and raised from the dead (Matthew 20:19). The Gospels record this happening exactly as Jesus predicted (Matthew 27-28; Mark 15-16; Luke 23-24; John 19-21).
Question: Why would the sinless Isa/Jesus allow Himself to be executed?
Answer: Isa/Jesus said that there is no greater love than to sacrifice your life for your friends (John 15:13).
Question: Why would Allah/God allow His prophet to be mistreated and killed?
Answer: John 3:16 says that He loved us enough to send Isa/Jesus to be a sacrifice for us.
Question: Why do we need Isa/Jesus to sacrifice His life for us?
Answer: This is the key difference between Islam and Christianity. Islam teaches that Allah/God judges us based on whether our good deeds outweigh our bad deeds. Even if it were possible to outweigh bad deeds with good deeds, Allah/God is so holy that He will not allow anyone into heaven who has committed even a single sin (James 2:10). The holy Allah/God cannot allow anything short of perfection into heaven. We all belong apart from Him in hell.
Question: Is there any real hope for eternal life for all of mankind?
Answer: Allah/God knew that we had all sinned and therefore could not enter heaven. Allah/God knew that the only way we could be forgiven was for our sin debt to be paid by a perfect One dying in our place. Allah/God knew that He alone could pay such an infinite price.
Question: How could Allah/God die for us? Isn’t He eternal?
Answer: Allah/God sent His eternal Son, Isa/Jesus from eternity to be born of a virgin. Isa/Jesus is Allah’s/God’s Son – not that Allah/God had parental relations with Mary but in the sense of His relationship with Allah/God and deity (John 1:1, 14). Isa/Jesus put on a body of flesh so that He could experience death in our place. Isa/Jesus proved He was Allah’s/God’s Son by His sinless life, perfect message, death for sin, and resurrection from the dead.
Question: What does Isa’s/Jesus’s life and death mean for all mankind?
Answer: Allah/God offers salvation from sin to those who trust Isa/Jesus as their Savior from sin and Lord of life. Isa/Jesus declared, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father [Allah/God] except through me” (John 14:6).
Question: Is there more than one way to Allah/God?
Answer: Isa/Jesus taught that He is the only way to God. Only by Isa/Jesus can we reach paradise.
Question: Will my sins be completely forgiven?
Answer: Allah/God gave His only Son to prove we can be forgiven. He will forgive our sins, help us live for Him, and give us eternal life.
Question: Can we reject such a precious gift?
Answer: Yes, we can turn our backs on Allah/God who loved us enough to sacrifice His Son for us?
Question: Allah/God is all powerful. Can’t He force us to accept?
Answer: He could force us to accept and beleive but He wants us to love Him freely because He first loved us and showed us this love through His Son Isa/Jesus.
Question: Can anyone become a Christian?
Answer: All mankind have sinned against Allah/God and deserve eternal death. But Isa/Jesus offers all mankind eternal life through faith in Him.
Question: How can someone be sure about what is true?
Answer: If you are unsure about the truth, say the following prayer to Allah/God: “Please, Allah/God, show me the truth. Help me discern and reject what is false. Point me to the correct way of salvation.” Allah/God will honor such a prayer.
Question: How does someone become a Christian?
Answer: If Allah/God is leading you to trust Isa/Jesus as your Savior and follow Him as Lord, ask Allah/God for the gift of salvation through Isa/Jesus. Here is an example of such a prayer: “Allah/God, I turn from loving my sin and trying to reach paradise through my own works. Thank You for sending Isa/Jesus to die on the cross for my sins and rise from the dead. I trust Isa/Jesus as my Savior. I love You, Isa/Jesus my Lord, and submit myself to You. Amen!”
